Glossy maroon or purplish-red foliage in spring, becomes dark green with purplish-red veins in the summer then a beautiful bronze color in autumn. Spectacular yellow and orange-red flowers with a spicy fragrance, appear in late winter or very early spring, lasting three to four weeks. The new foliage is an attractive bronzy-red color that matures to dark green. It turns orange- golden yellow in fall. The dried leaves often persist into winter.
